Every year the Austinist puts on a pre- Fun Fun Fun Fest party called Local Music Is Sexy in order to highlight local talent. This year we have three of our bands on the bill: Bill Baird, The Weird Weeds, and Sleep Good. Be sure to catch them along with the others for free

Bill Baird ‘Silence!’ at Issue Project Room

This Saturday, Sept. 11, Bill Baird will perform his album Silence! at ISSUE Project Room in Brooklyn, NY. The live show will feature arrangements by Christopher Cox and performed by a large ensemble of talented musicians joining Baird: Tucker Dulin, Erica Dicker, Dave Ruder, Nathan Stein, Alexander Waterman, Kenny Wang, Karen Waltuch, and Katherine Young.

We’re also very excited that the legendary, utterly unique and brilliant guitarist-composer Loren Connors will be opening the evening with a solo performance. Connors has released a number of classic albums including Portrait of a Soul, Little Match Stick Girl, Sails, and most recently a reissue of his Hell’s Kitchen Park album on the Netherlands based label Enabling Works.
